Debating people on yahoo as to why most write ups about the Selke are so heavily slanted toward face-off percentage.
Look, I get how key winning a faceoff in the defensive zone is, but I don’t think winning a high volume of faceoffs necessarily makes you an excellent defensive player.
You could be aces in the circle and completely worthless one-on-one once the skating actually starts.
If anything a faceoff is equal parts offense & defense, based on whether you win or lose it.
“Puck possesion is the best defense” is a cop out; defense by definition is what you do when the other team has the puck.
I don’t think the NHL is aware of how many people have to watch their product via illegal streams.
Since they don’t seem to care that tons of fans are dicked by every game being on NBCSN.
Also let’s destroy the mystique of the Winter Classic by having a gajillion outdoor games next year.
